Linda Newington is a visual artist, and founder of “In the Loop”, a series of conferences held from 2008-2018, focused on knitting. Linda has used her artist’s eye to curate an exhibition which takes a closer look at colour, through the Textile Collection held by the Shetland Textile Museum, on show at the Böd of Gremista.
She will talk about the exhibition from selection through to display. The main focus of the exhibition is on knitting, with a few examples of spinning and weaving. A Q&A session will follow, and one of the Museum’s knitting demonstrators will also be on hand, to answer any technical knitting questions which may arise.
Transport: There is no public transport directly to the Museum, which is on the outskirts of Lerwick, but there is a bus-stop on the main road, a few hundred yards away, where the various buses for the North Mainland will stop. The Museum is 1.7 miles/ 2.7km from the Town Centre, and 0.6 miles/1 km from the Holmsgarth Ferry Terminal, and is easy walking on pavements. Taxis run from the Town Centre. There is ample free parking outside the museum.
