This class will introduce you to the traditional and not so traditional methods of blocking or ‘dressing’ Shetland knitwear. You will learn and actively take part in dressing a Shetland hap shawl using a traditional hap board and you will also learn to dress scarves, gloves, hats, socks and berets. This is a very active class so be prepared for not a lot of sitting down as we wash and dress a range of Shetland knitwear accessories!

Materials needed: Participants should bring a notebook, pencil and eraser. Students will also wash garments, therefore if anyone has an allergy to soap flakes, they should bring gloves with them.

Skills needed: This is an active class where students will be involved in blocking or “dressing” Shetland garments. Students will be dressing a Shetland hap, which may require the use of a small step ladder or step stool.
