This is a rare opportunity to take a Flock Book Croft Tour and meet some of the people behind Shetland’s top quality flocks.

Travel west to the Vementry Estate and visit a glorious, hidden part of Shetland. Here you will meet Hamish Hunter and his family, and see white and moorit (brown) sheep being gathered by his border collie dog. There will also be fleeces to see and discuss the finer points of wool with Hamish. Shetland ponies will also be there.

This is one of Shetland’s founder Flock Book top quality flocks: they were 2018 Champion and Reserve Champions at the annual Flock Book Show and Sale.

Enjoy lunch (included in the ticket price) at the Ollaberry Hall and visit the popular knitwear exhibition. On the journey back, stop at Islesburgh Farm, Sullom and find out what characteristics make Shetland sheep and their wool stand out in the wool industry. Mr and Mrs Addie and Margaret Doull are well known for their wool quality in their Shetland flock and are enthusiastic breeders.  They have various colours in their flock as well as white Shetland sheep.

Wear clothing suitable for the outdoors.
