We leave from Victoria Pier in the heart of Lerwick, opposite the Market Cross. A leisurely stroll takes in the award winning, recently restored Tolbooth, now headquarters of Lerwick’s lifeboat station.
Walk past our unique Lodberries once used by the town merchants for the landing & storage of goods. Climbing uphill, view a traditional method of recycling in Shetland where an upturned former ferry is now the roof of a garage. Then on past various churches to the steep, narrow, intricate web of lanes to our Town Hall, built in 1882. Where, on the first floor, you will find our history depicted in pictorial narrative through stained glass windows. Pass our theatre before entering Fort Charlotte, named after Queen Charlotte, wife of George III, which provides panoramic vistas across the harbour to the island of Bressay.

Food: At the end of the tour, we will go to the Peerie Shop Café (Peerie is the Shetland dialect word for small) where we will get to sample some of the famous local produce. This will include tattie (potato) soap, Waas bread and salmon. Enjoy your meal while listening to some of our local artists.
