In this workshop we will investigate the effect that mordants have on the outcome of natural dyes on Shetland wool. The mini hanks provided will have been mordanted with mineral salts as well as plant-based mordants. We’ll evaluate their sustainability, effectiveness and the colours they produce.

We will dye with a variety of homegrown responsibly foraged dye plants and food waste, and you will leave with several mini hanks naturally coloured with a range of hues.

Materials: All yarn and dye materials provided but please bring an apron and notebook.
