Swedish knitter Brita Hővenmark will teach you the old Swedish technique of twined knitting. This is an old traditional way of knitting from Sweden, where you knit with two alternating strands of yarn, thus producing a warm, durable and very beautiful item.

Tea and biscuits will be provided during the class.

Materials: Yarn will be supplied but please bring sock needles, or similar for knitting in the round, size 3.00mm.

Skills required: Participants should be able to cope with knitting in the round on 3 needles.

Transport: There is no public transport directly to the Museum, which is on the outskirts of Lerwick, but there is a bus-stop on the main road, a few hundred yards away, where the various busses for the North Mainland will stop. The Museum is 1.7 miles/ 2.7km from the Town Centre, and 0.6 miles/1 km from the Holmsgarth Ferry Terminal, and is easy walking on pavements. Taxis run from the Town Centre.
