FEATURES

Alongside the knitting, we share stories that honour our heritage breeds, our agricultural traditions, and the deep personal connections we hold with knitwear.

We plan to have the Annual here in time for Shetland Wool Week, so if you’re in Shetland you’ll be able to use the click and collect option and pick up your copy in person.

This year there are three options available to purchase:

Thank you to our contributors

Our editor, Victoria, would like to extend her thanks, as always, to all of the talented designers who have contributed to this year’s publication. We are delighted to welcome a new contributor to the Annual, Sheila Halcrow, with her pretty gloves. We are also pleased to include a men’s garment this year: Mati Ventrillon’s striking Gronsteinn Vest, and to acknowledge Mandy Moore, who test-knit one of the larger garments in record time.

In June, we headed to Levenwick for the photoshoot, set against the backdrop of its beautiful, sheltered bay. Our model, Kirstie Clubb, brought energy, ease, and fun to the day, even though she is often to be found behind the camera rather than in front of it. We also thank our own Bryan Mouat, who usually packs copies of the Annual and answers all your shop enquiries, but this year stepped into the pages himself.

Huge thanks also to our feature writers, who dedicated their time, research, and insight to uncover interesting stories to share with you.

Behind the scenes, many people have worked tirelessly over the months to bring everything together: a true labour of love. Photographer Alexa Fitzgibbon has once again captured Shetland’s spirit and the intricate beauty of knitwear through her stunning images. Tech editor and SWW tutor, Samira Hill, has applied her expertise to interpreting and refining the patterns, ensuring the instructions are clear and accessible. And our graphic designer, Diana Lukas-Nulle, has devoted great care to selecting imagery and setting the overall tone of the publication.

This year, we’ve introduced refreshed graphics and a more streamlined layout – fewer pages, but with just as much detail and inspiration.

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Annual possible, it is your creativity, skill, and dedication that bring it to life.

We hope this post has whet your appetite for what’s inside the new SWW Annual. We will be sharing more on social media together with yarn requirements over the next few weeks.
