Winter Projects

Season’s greetings!

Photo from @pinkfishshetland

Well what a winter wonderland Shetland turned into last week.
As if by magic, as soon as the calendar turned to 1st December we had a beautiful scattering of snow. It’s given us a cosy glow and our woollens are having the perfect moment!

We thought now would be the time to launch two new patterns from our Shetland Wool Week Patron, Wilma Malcolmson. Following on from the success of Da Crofter’s Kep Wilma has designed a cowl and fingerless gloves as part of ‘Da Crofter’ series.

We love the practicality of the fingerless gloves, as you can wear them whilst getting on with ‘stuff’; and the cowl, which sits neatly to the neck, is the perfect warm accessory at this time of year.

They’re so beautiful and we hope you love them as much as we do.
Both are available as a digital download from our online shop, via PayHip.

SWW Annual 2021
Thank you so much to all of you for supporting and buying the SWW Annual 2021 – and for letting us know when it’s arrived safely. It’s quite incredible to see it turning up in different mailboxes all around the world. And the first completed knits are beginning to be shared too! Please do keep sharing your photos using the #shetlandwoolweekannual2021

Special offer

We have a special offer on right now. For every purchase of the SWW Annual 2021, we’re giving you 50% off the official Shetland Wool Week Hats art cards set. They are a lovely memento for those who have followed, or are new to Shetland Wool Week. Frame them, or use them as notelets: they make the perfect postable gift.

This offer is automatically applied at checkout and ends midnight GMT 26th December 2021.

Check out the SWW online shop for other goodies including our enamel mug, project bag and stunning Gilly B Sumburgh Head artwork.

Delivery dates: For all international orders, we would recommend you place all orders before Saturday 11 December to maximise the chances that your parcel arrives before Christmas. UK orders must be placed before Friday 17 December to receive pre-Christmas delivery. Please note however, due to possible delays in the postal network, we cannot guarantee these dates.
**Remember, if you live locally you can select the ‘Pick Up’ shipping option at checkout to collect your order from the Shetland Museum.

Window shopping wander

‘Da Street’ in Lerwick is looking so inviting right now – and the wool shops are always our favourite for creativity and inspiration. Here are just two windows that have caught our eye – Ninian; and  Jamieson’s of Shetland which features a knitted winter theme from Narnia.

SWW 2022

Thank you to everyone who completed the survey letting us know your thoughts on a physical event next year, which have been a great help. As the global situation continues to remain unpredictable we are currently unable to announce any firm plans for 2022. As soon as we have more information, we will update you.

In the meantime, a reminder to all those who took out SWW Membership for this year’s Virtual event, all the films will remain online to be viewed until the end of the year.

Stay cosy and enjoy the new patterns.
